iShell User Testimonials
Part of what makes iShell so great is the vast community of iShell developers all over the world. Here are a few users with their thoughts on why they use iShell.

"To expand our customer base, we had to move to making cross-platform products. We're a small Mac-based company, and I was concerned that I'd need a row of Wintel boxes running every flavor of Windows and spend my time tweaking a project as the deadline slipped by. Instead of having to be worried about how our finished product will work on Windows, with iShell I can develop on Macintosh with the confidence that our Windows product will work the same way. This saves me from lots of boring Windows debugging and technical support incidents, so I can spend my time making our products better. Being able to develop once on my machine and deliver to many different target machines makes my life easier. I honestly don't believe that we could have developed our cross-platform products so quickly using another authoring environment." Best thing about using iShell "Being able to easily add features to our software products to make it do what I want it to do, which dazzles people who think it is some kind of magic." Creative Rant "The tribalmedia model is very different from the way other products are supported, but it works. On the email groups and boards there's a large community of very knowledgeable users who are willing to help other users (even the newbies). And the guys at tribalmedia who actually work on the iShell software are reading these discussions and offering advice, steering us on the right track, and answering the questions that only they can answer - it makes a big difference to know that you're talking to people who know the product inside and out." |

"We've now produced a dozen interactive educational titles for mixed platform environments and have had no reports of crashes, hangs or incompatibilities from users. "The iShell Runtime is the most stable multimedia distribution software I have ever encountered. The runtime files are very small and, with a little experience, you can make the interactivity blazingly fast. "From a developer's point of view, one of iShell's greatest strengths is its rapid prototyping. With a little practice one can get a complex project up and working in a few hours. "In my Centre we are producing constructivist-style educational experiences for our students in which they have a great deal of flexibility to explore and discover. This is much simpler to do in iShell's object-oriented environment than in timeline-based software like Director and Flash or algorithm-based programs such as Authorware and Toolbook." Best thing about using iShell "Object-oriented paradigm more flexible than Director, Authorware or Toolbook. Cross-platform compatibility essential in PC-dominant culture. Works seamlessly with double-byte characters in text files." Best thing about being a developer "I get to express my creativity through my clients: not always easy, but always a challenge." Creative Rant "With iShell I can cut the labor-intensive storyboarding and detailed pre-planning steps and wade right into a project, developing iteratively, changing things on the fly. I can also work collaboratively with colleagues using PCs and Macs." |
